Ban the Mind Reader was a piece of graffiti that appeared on the walls and railway arches of the Medway towns in the 1960s. It appeared overnight and in many locations. Hand painted and in big white letters. The message was paranoid and mysterious. It stunk of conspiracy.

In full it reads:

"BAN THE MIND READER... THE MURDERING COMPUTER... IT HAS CAUSED A NUMBER OF FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS... IT MAKES THE CRIMINALS... IT CAUSES SICKNESS, BENDS AND VOMITING ... "

When first it appeared most people were bemused. They said it was the work of a paranoid loony. I thought it was the work of a genius. And I was not alone. Others too wondered about the mysterious graffiti. Billy Childish and Lupen Crook have both made reference to it. Sexton Ming named his band after it. And Tracie Jenkins, the Strood poet, composed and recited her famous poem, 'Banneth Thy Self O Mind Reader', on Broom Hill near the Dead Orchard, because she was so inspired by it.

But can such an important message be left to the mercies of Medway's poets, painters and troubadours, who extract only the mystique and poetry, but ignore the central tenant.

What care they that the Mind Reader is a menace and that it has to be stopped!

No! I will not allow the Nancy-boy poets to do their worse!

The warning will be heeded. The Mind Reader will be banned! Fires and explosions will be curbed! Sickness and Vomiting will stop! The criminals will be made no more!

This website is dedicated to those who support such a ban. To those who want to know more about the murdering computer and the conspiracies that blight the lives of the hard working men and women of this world over.
